Minecraft doesn't take full advantage of the Wii U Gamepad, however it has off-TV play, just like most Wii U offerings. It's sad, because the screen on the Wii U pad could possibly be used for inventory items and creation materials, but I think it's really a miracle that Minecraft caused it to be all all, considering Microsoft owns the franchise, just a few of Microsoft's properties did turn out on Nintendo systems, most notably the Game Boy Advance (Banjo Kazooie, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee).
